as scot williams just said: they were shit and we were worse. terrible game again and most importantly it's happening too often that the team seems not to give a shit during the 2nd half. what the hell does Kenny do to them at half time.

Also we can't counter attack. for all of the accusations of defensive football leveled at Benitez, at least the team knew how to fucking score.

I am not happy

Le sigh.

Not sure what to say there - Downing still isnt good enough, we still dont look good going forward etc etc and so on.

I really wish we'd saved game after KD joined last year. Go back to the team we had then and try again.

Did our players blank out United's two goals or something? I've never seen such an impotent performance from a team losing a game. No pressing, no tempo when in possession (I know we're used to that by now but still). We're just fucking clueless when we have the ball, and don't seem to have any sort of plan aside from 'be organised, defend deep, try and nick a goal on the break'.

Yeah I did wonder if someone should have mentioned to the players we were 2-0 down. Gerrard needs to be further up the pitch, he does much more damage when he isnt picking the ball up from the toes of Skrtel and Dagger

Gerrard cannot play in that position. It's absolutely obvious.

We really need to ditch some players in the summer.

The good news is I do think we have the management in place who can be ruthless about it. If I'm wrong we're fucked.

while he was wrong to lie about that, he was bang on about it being the press making it an issue. Wasn't even an agressive game, i guess because Utd were more likely to hurt themselves.

that 2nd half WTF, come out seeming brain dead concede 2 quickly then proceed to remain static on the half way line until 75mins in :nervous: :urgh: :n:

The two goals we conceded were so avoidable as well. Just really frustrating losing a game like that - especially when you feel with a bit more effort we might have got something out of it.

I've just seen on Sky Sport's website that Ferguson has come out and said Suarez shouldn't play for Liverpool again :uhoh: What's it got to do with him?

Oh, and also Dalglish's interview - sometimes he's funny with his snide remarks, but a lot of the time he just comes across as a prick and a bit rude tbh. Basically whatever the interviewer says to him to tends to disagree with completely which is just a bit weird.

And I'm well aware I'm basically talking to myself in here at the moment. I quite like it actually :smug:

I just wrote a big long post but it was basically this post with more waffling so I'll just quote it. :y:

I hate to say but when the commentator today said 'liverpool are good without posession, get back into position straight away' it did make me think, we have basically become the team hodgson was trying to make us into really with work off the ball defensive work being our main strength and like you say it seems our tactics are built entirely around defending and our 'plan' for scoring goals is relying on getting a lucky break, a moment of genius, or set pieces.

The Downing situation is getting ludicrous too, how badly would he have to play to actually lose his place?

Well another game another failure to score from open play

Also does anyone else get the feeling that if we balls it up some more and 4th starts to look very unlikely and we HAVE to win we'll then start doing attacking and start scoring goals and be good?

This season has been strange, I cant believe we're 2/3rds of the way through it, seems like we've just been sort of waiting for liverpool to start playing properly all year now.

I'm don't think so. I do think we're going to see some major players shifted out this summer followed by hopefully a proper rebuild. In all likelihood it wont be under KD.
