Several things seem clear to me about Raul:

1. The deal was set up in advance - no way did it all go through in 20 minutes. Chelsea had him marked as back up option should they not get Modric or Peirera (?).

2. Kenny clearly didn't see him as first choice no matter where he played. He wasn't a starter this season and that was before Gerrard comes back.

3. I wonder whether Kenny has been making a concious effort to get rid of all trace of the Hodgson regime (only Brad Jones left now). He really wasn't happy about Hodgson getting the job - let's face it, it was a personal insult to him once he put his name forward. Not saying its vindictive, just that he knows we would all like to believe that 6 months never happened. Maybe thats why he bought all those midfielders.....
